Public release of the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency and the Board of Directors of the Republic Telecommunications Agency

The Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency and the Board of Directors of the Republic Telecommunications Agency, after the completion of the public tenders for the issuance of TV and radio programme broadcasting licenses, on the basis of the provisions of Article 118 in connection with Article 84 of the Law on General Administrative Procedure, on 31 July 2008 issued the following

 

PUBLIC RELEASE

 

Legal and natural persons broadcasting radio or TV programme via terrestrial broadcasting stations without a programme broadcasting license are requested to terminate programme broadcasting not later than by 31 August 2008.

The Republic Broadcasting Agency and the Republic Telecommunications Agency will undertake all measures provided for by the Broadcasting Law, Telecommunications Law and bylaws against the legal and natural persons that fail to terminate programme broadcasting by 31 August 2008.

Furthermore, procedures will be initiated against the persons that fail to terminate programme broadcasting by 31 August 2008 for the committed offence referred to in Article 113 paragraph 1 item 1 of the Broadcasting Law, for which a fine may be imposed against a legal person in the amount of 300,000 to 1,000,000 dinars, and against the responsible person in the legal person and natural person in the amount of 20,000 to 50,000 dinars and the offence referred to in Article 98 Paragraph 1 item 1 of the Telecommunications Law, for which a fine may be imposed against a legal person of not less than 60,000 dinars, and against the responsible person in the legal person in the amount of not less than 6,000 dinars.
