In Belgrade, 6 media literacy training programmes were held for 90 teachers

The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media held six media literacy training programmes for teachers in cooperation with the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade, as part of the second consecutive Media Literacy Open Days from 9 to 16 October 2023.

The training programme for teachers and expert associates of preschool institutions in the territory of the City Belgrade was attended by 90 representatives, during the six days of the second consecutive Media Literacy Open Days.

The findings of the survey on media literacy among preschool children in Serbia were presented to the representatives of preschool institutions, who were informed about the Regulator’s activities in the area of media literacy, with an emphasis on programming content rating and useful tools for educating preschoolers about media literacy. 

Teachers and professional associates of preschool institutions concluded that it is very important for parents to be included in this process, expressed the need for a comprehensive campaign and more promotional materials on the subject of media literacy. 

The goal of the Media Literacy Open Days and of the training held as part of this event is to raise awareness and promote media literacy among preschool teachers and expert associates. 

Media Literacy Open Days are organised for the second consecutive year as part of the project Protecting Freedom of Expression and of the Media in Serbia (PROFREX), which is part of the Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye 2023-2026, a joint European Union and the Council of Europe programme.
