Colleagues from the regulatory authorities of Turkiye and Azerbaijan visit REM

Staff of the Supreme Council for Radio and Television of the Republic of Turkiye (RTUK) and the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan (ACRA) paid a five-day study visit to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM). The visit, which took place in Belgrade from 23 to 27 June, was organised with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences and strengthening cooperation in the field of regulation and monitoring of the work of media service providers.

Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media to media service providers on observing of the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Mass Murders

The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media fully supports the proposal of the Working Group for the Establishment of the Memorial Centre in Memory of the Victims of Mass Murder in the Experimental Elementary School Vladislav Ribnikar, established by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, regarding the manner of marking the anniversary of mass murders in this school, in Dubona and in Malo Orašje, in the programmes of television and radio media service providers, with the aim of preserving remembrance, so that we as a society become fully aware of the magnitude of the tragedy that happened to us.

REM at the conference of the Alliance against Trafficking in Persons

The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) held the 25th Conference of the Alliance against Trafficking in Persons in Vienna, which was attended by a representative of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

At the conference, whose main theme was Protecting Childhoods, Shaping Futures: A Call to End Child Trafficking”, and which was held from 31 March to 1 April, it was concluded that OSCE member states should triple their efforts to combat child trafficking.

Decision of the Constitutional Court on the initiative of the REM Council

The Constitutional Court issued a decision dismissing the initiative to initiate a procedure for assessing the constitutionality of the provision of Article 126, paragraph 1 of the Law on Electronic Media (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 92/2023).

The aforementioned article stipulates that the members of the Council elected in accordance with the Law on Electronic Media (Official Gazette of the RS, nos. 83/14, 6/16-other law and 129/21) shall continue to perform that duty until the expiry of one year from the day this law enters into force.

The establishment of a co-regulatory principle in the domain of commercial communications with the aim of protecting minors is a requirement for our society, concluded the participants of the round table Principles of Co-regulation of Commercial Communications in the Light of Protection of Minors, organised by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, in cooperation with the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade.

Representatives of the technical services of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) participated, at the invitation of the Turkish regulator (RTUK), at the workshop titled Women’s Representation in Media, which was held in Ankara on 28 February 2025. The workshop was organised with the participation of representatives of regulatory authorities from Azerbaijan, Albania and Greece, as well as other stakeholders, including representatives of the academic community, media workers, well as local NGOs.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia issued a decision to declare 5 January 2025 a Day of Mourning in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

Since the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Observing Days of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 30/10), the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media has been entrusted with the task of supervising the implementation of the provisions related to the programmes of radio and television media service providers.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a decision to declare 2 November 2024 a Day of Mourning in the territory of the Republic of Serbia. 

Since the entry into force of the Law Amending the Law on Marking the Day of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 30/10), the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, as a task entrusted to it, oversees the implementation of provisions related to programmes of radio and television media service providers.

More than 350 child correspondents at RTV

Over 100 preschoolers visited Radio Television of Vojvodina during three days of the Media Literacy Open Days event, and more than 350 children are expected to visit this public media institution by the end of the week.
