REM at the conference of the Alliance against Trafficking in Persons

The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) held the 25th Conference of the Alliance against Trafficking in Persons in Vienna, which was attended by a representative of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

At the conference, whose main theme was Protecting Childhoods, Shaping Futures: A Call to End Child Trafficking”, and which was held from 31 March to 1 April, it was concluded that OSCE member states should triple their efforts to combat child trafficking.

During the two-day event, three main panel discussions were held: The Evolving Landscape of Child Trafficking: Trends and Patterns, From Vulnerability to Protection: Addressing Risks in Child Trafficking and It Takes a Village to Raise a Child” – and a Whole Society to End Child Trafficking.

The conference provided an opportunity to analyse current challenges in combating child trafficking, identify existing problems and strengthen a common response to this global problem. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for cooperation between different sectors of society, including child protection, health care, education and justice, in order to increase the efficiency of identification, protection of and support for children at risk and survivors of trafficking in persons.
