Representatives of the Regulator participated in the conference on artificial intelligence in the service of public broadcasters

Radio-Television of Vojvodina (RTV) hosted a conference titled Public Broadcasters and AI, which was held in Novi Sad on 29 May 2026. The conference, which was also attended by representatives of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, brought together leading AI experts, representatives of public broadcasters from the region, and media workers, all with the aim of considering possibilities for improving the work of public broadcasters with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), as well as the key challenges of its ethical application.

The discussion opened with a panel dedicated to the strategic direction of public broadcasters and institutions in the AI era. The participants emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring of technological development and defined the ways in which artificial intelligence can transform the work of the media.

The second panel brought concrete experiences from foreign newsrooms. Practical examples and challenges faced by Germany's Deutsche Welle (DW) and the Slovenian public broadcaster were presented. The significance of the programme of the European Broadcasting Union – the EBU Academy, which provides newsroom members with comprehensive and quality education for the application of AI in daily work, was particularly emphasised.

The focus of the third panel was on the ethical application of artificial intelligence, during which useful tools were presented that can help the media ensure ethical standards when using this technology.

The conclusion of the conference was reserved for regional media companies and their results achieved so far. The participants concluded that artificial intelligence brings revolutionary changes to the media industry, but that the successful transformation of public broadcasters depends on a good balance between technological progress, professional ethics and the protection of copyright.
