Visit of Colleagues from the Regulatory Authorities of Turkey and Azerbaijan
Employees of the Radio and Television Supreme Council of the Republic of Turkiye (RTUK) and the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ACRA) conducted a five-day study visit to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).
The visit took place from 15 to 19 June in Belgrade and was organised with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience, and strengthening cooperation in the area of regulation and supervision of media service providers, as well as serving as a platform for exchanging experience in regulating new media services.
During their multi-day stay, the guests from Turkey and Azerbaijan had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the competences and working methods of the Regulator, starting from the licensing process, through procedures for monitoring media service providers, to the specific challenges REM faces in the digital environment.
Special emphasis was placed on the technical aspects of broadcasting programme content in Serbia. As part of this, a visit to the Public Enterprise Transmitters and Communications (ETV) was organised, where the guests had the opportunity to learn about the technical infrastructure for digital broadcasting in Serbia, the history of broadcasting technology in our country, as well as the tourist potential of the Avala Tower.
In addition, a visit to Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) and Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) was specifically organized in order to present the work of the national and provincial public broadcasters to their colleagues. The guests had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the capacities, working methods, and functioning of the public broadcasters, their rich archives, as well as the modern studios and the potential of both media services in programme production.
During the visit, employees of RTUK and ACRA familiarised themselves in detail with the work of REM's technical services, exchanged examples of good practice from their daily work, and discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation within their areas of competence, with a particular focus on media literacy activities.
On this occasion, certificates of appreciation were presented to the representatives of PB RTV and PE ETV for their active participation and contribution to the campaign Media with Doors Wide Open, which they join every year, making an immense contribution to raising awareness of media literacy among the youngest as part of the Open Days of Media Literacy.
The visit of the colleagues from Turkey was carried out in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding and the expert exchange programme that REM has signed with RTUK, while the visit with colleagues from Azerbaijan was organised on the basis of previously established bilateral cooperation between the regulatory authorities.
